
Tenor Konstantin Lee was born in Seoul, South Korea. He graduated at the top of his class for practical performance in both his Bachelor's and Master's degrees at Seoul National University. As a recipient of the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) and Hamel Stiftung scholarships, he completed his Konzertexamen at the Hochschule for Music and Theater Hamburg with highest honors (mit Auszeichnung). He furthered his musical development through masterclasses with esteemed artists such as Edda Moser, Renato Bruson, Dalton Baldwin, Kiri Te Kanawa, and Cheryl Studer.
Significant international projects are planned for 2026. Under the baton of Fabrice Bollon, Konstantin Lee will perform as a soloist in Honegger's oratorio Jeanne d’Arc au bûcher with the Staatskapelle Halle. His portrayal of Rodolfo in La Bohème will take him back to the Landestheater Neustrelitz. In Korea, he is scheduled for a tour of Die Zauberflöte with the Korea National Opera, as well as solo appearances in Verdi’s Messa da Requiem, Orff’s Carmina Burana, and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9.
These engagements follow his successful return to European stages in recent seasons. In the 2024/25 season, he performed the role of Cassio in Verdi’s Otello (a Royal Opera House Covent Garden production) at the Seoul Arts Center under Carlo Rizzi and sang Tamino in Die Zauberflöte at the Goethe-Theater Bad Lauchstädt for the Festival der deutschen Sprache 2024. He also appeared as the Duke in Rigoletto at the Landestheater Neustrelitz and as the Prince in Prokofiev’s The Love for Three Oranges at the Staatstheater Cottbus.
In the 2023/24 season, he performed Rodolfo in a new production of La Bohème at the Mecklenburgisches Staatstheater Schwerin and at the Staatstheater Cottbus. In 2025, he appeared as Tamino at the Eutiner Festspiele. On the concert stage, he recently collaborated with the Neubrandenburger Philharmonie under Daniel Geiss and the Gyeonggi Philharmonic Orchestra under Sunwook Kim.
Konstantin Lee is a prize-winner of numerous international competitions. He won first prize at the Neue Stimmen International Singing Competition, the SWR Junge Opernstars, the Anneliese Rothenberger Competition, and the Luis Sigall International Music Competition in Chile. He was also a prize-winner at the Montreal International Musical Competition and represented South Korea at the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World. In his home country, he won first prize at the Korea Vocal Music Competition.
He made his European debut in 2016 as Ferrando in Così fan tutte in Freiburg, conducted by Daniel Carter. This was followed by appearances at the Wiener Volksoper as Camille in Die lustige Witwe under Alfred Eschwé, at the Theater Solingen as Prince Sou-Chong, and at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice, where he sang Camille de Rosillon under Stefano Montanari. Prior to his career in Europe, he debuted in Seoul in roles such as Alfredo (La Traviata), Nemorino (L’elisir d’amore), and Rodolfo (La Bohème).
In addition to his operatic career, Konstantin Lee is an active concert and oratorio singer. He has collaborated with conductors such as Myung-Whun Chung (Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra) and Yoel Levi (KBS Symphony Orchestra). His extensive repertoire includes the tenor solo parts in Mozart's Requiem and Vesperae solennes de confessore, Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 and Mass in C major, Handel's Messiah, Haydn's The Creation, Michael Haydn's Requiem, Orff's Carmina Burana, and Scriabin's Symphony No. 1.
